Top Bass tourney on Chemong Lake Saturday

by Anita Locke

Anglers line up their boats as they await the weigh-in at last weekend’s Top Bass Fishing Tournament at BEL Rotary Park just beyond the James Gifford Causeway at Bridgenorth.

Ninety teams of anglers took to local lakes last weekend, departing from BEL Rotary Park, as part of the 2008 Top Bass Fishing Series Live Release Tournament.

The tournament was part of the Bass Qualifier series that sees bass anglers from all over the province compete in tournaments from Sturgeon Lake to Port Perry, Coboconk, Bewdley and Bridgenorth between July 1 and August 24.

Top prize for the Bridgenorth event was $4,050.

Anglers could register a maximum of five small or largemouth bass (any combination). Teams had to cull down to five weighable fish prior to weigh-in. The size limit was 13 inches tip to tip. Any bass measuring less than 13 inches was disqualified.
