Lakefield Minor Hockey plans clinics, tournaments

The Lakefield and District Minor Hockey Association held its monthly meeting on Thursday, August 7 at the Centennial Room in Lakefield.

Chairman of the Tournaments and Clinic Committee, Bill Dummitt announced that Minor Hockey will be running tournaments in each division during the March break.

He has also scheduled a trainer, trainers’ refresher and a coaches’ refresher clinic in Lakefield during the month of October.

Those who need the above courses should contact Bill at 652-6238.

This is Bill Dummitt’s 18th year of volunteer work for Minor Hockey.

He has served as President and has filled such duties as coaching, managing, tournament and clinic chairman.

His tournaments help raise money for hockey in Lakefield and his work with the annual meat draw provides approximately 45 per cent of the fundraising budget.

The Executive is planning its power skating week however has been unable to forward dates as it has not been announced when ice will be available at the Lakefield Smith Community Centre.

Minor Hockey held a special executive meeting on Wednesday, August 13 to select their coaches for the upcoming year and those who have applied should be notified shortly.
