Cricket with an Aussie twist at LCS

by Anita Locke

The Aussie X (“eXperience”) came to Lakefield College School last Thursday and Friday to teach Grade 7 and 8 students how to play Australian cricket.

Not that Australian cricket is really so much different (although some of the rules are) than regular cricket, it’s just that it is presented in a very fun way!

Cricket is a bat and ball team sport that originated in England. It is now played in more than 100 countries.

Aussie X is an Australian/Canadian sporting organization/clinic which provides a unique Australian sporting experience in such sports as football (also known as Footy), Netball (similar to basketball) and cricket.

It also provides an opportunity to learn about the fun, weird and wacky Australian culture.

Emile Studham, who started the Auskick Canada Program in 2003, is the Director of Aussie X.

He has a combined 20 years of playing, coaching and teaching experience and spends six months of his time living and teaching in Canada.

The other six months are spent ‘down under’ in his native country.
