Lakefield Youth Unlimited fundraising dinner

by Shafawn Davis

Lakefield Youth Unlimited is a group of people within the community coming together as one to help anybody who needs it, and creating a safe place where everybody belongs.

They provide care, job skills, tutoring, mentoring, food, clothing and many other services for youth who need it.

Lakefield Youth Unlimited is a satellite of Kawartha Youth for Christ, which works together with local residents, churches, schools, and many other places for the youth of our community.

Lakefield Youth Unlimited has been in Lakefield for five years now. For the first three years a fundraising dinner was held, and last year a dessert night was hosted. This year the dinner is back in place, and it hopes to raise $8,000. It will be helping to pay for special events that will be taking place in the future.

The fundraising dinner for partners and friends will be held on Thursday, October 30.

The dinner will take place at Lakefield District Secondary School in the cafeteria, and punch will be served at 6:00 p.m., and the Roast Beef Dinner at 6:30 p.m.

There will also be live folk and gospel music performed by Ean and Eleanor during the meal. Dress is casual and there will be a vegetarian meal available if it is requested.

If you would like to make reservations for this dinner contact Barb Rosborough at 705-652-0121 by Sunday, October 26. Tickets are not being sold, but $12.50 will be taken off of the amount of money donated as the value of the meal, as per Canada Revenue Agency regulations. Please make any cheques payable to Youth Unlimited.

“Gym Night” is back in action! Chris Jones from Lakefield Youth Unlimited will be hosting this event every Thursday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

There are six to eight adult volunteers, and the age group for the event ranges from Grade 7 to Grade 12 students.

The event takes place at LDSS in the front lobby entrance and there are a lot of activities like pick-up basketball, court sports, and art expressions. Come out and have a blast!
