More awards for Art Festival

The Buckhorn Fine Art Festival can add another to its list of awards received this year.

The prestigious County of Peterborough award for tourism and promotion was presented recently to Sherry Senis, Director of the Festival.

Two exhibiting artists at the Festival, Michael Dumas and Kelly Dodge, received awards for leadership in arts and culture.

This August 13 through 16 take a beautiful drive to the hamlet of Buckhorn to find out why the Buckhorn Fine Art Festival was chosen a top Ontario Festival.

Ninety professional artists (some local, many from throughout Ontario and Quebec) will be there to meet and greet you throughout the weekend, and can personalize that work of art you purchase for that special occasion.

Preview night is August 14 from 7 to 10 p.m. Stroll leisurely through the 11 galleries amidst the pines, while enjoying live entertainment, tasty snacks and beverages.

Two draws will take place with a chance to win “Lucky Bucks” worth $100 towards your purchase of art at the Festival.

Other draws for merchandise and prints will occur throughout the weekend.

Visit the Festival on Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A painting workshop is available Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $48, includes admission and all materials and is designed for youth, teens and adults.

A Pow Wow featuring local Ojibwa drummers and dancers wearing traditional regalia will take place Sunday, August 16 from noon to 3 p.m.

Advance Preview Night tickets are available now from the Buckhorn Community Centre for $12 per person, which includes re-entry into the Festival during the entire weekend.

Call 705-657-1918 or 1-877-300-9766 to reserve your tickets for this special evening. For further information, check our website www.buckhornfineart.com.
