by Anita Locke

Lakefield Physiotherapy and Foot Health Clinic is now open at the Morton Community Health Care Centre.

Services offered are physiotherapy, foot care, orthotics, massage therapy and occupational therapy.

Inspired by the innovative community spirit that led to the construction of the health centre, the Lakefield Physiotherapy and Foot Health Clinic is a team of locally based regulated health professionals who joined together to provide much-needed “head to toe” health services in one convenient location.

This unique team approach to better health combines the expertise of leading regulated health specialists in one convenient clinic.

The clinic’s goal is “to be recognized as leaders in restoring health, preventing injuries, and building healthier lifestyles in the community we serve by providing ethical, high-quality care and by partnering effectively with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other health care providers.”

Working together with the doctors of the family health team, the Lakefield Physiotherapy and Foot Health Clinic offers a multi-disciplinary and holistic approach with a wide scope of services.

Managing Director Steven Webster says, “What was envisioned for this facility is beginning to happen. As part of the allied health team we are able to work together and consult with the doctors, and patients can receive a multitude of services under one roof.”

The team includes Registered Physiotherapist Kim Payne, Registered Chiropodists – Foot & Orthotics Specialists Peter Greaves and David Murphy, Registered Massage Therapist Krista Orlando, and Occupational Therapists Alison Thomas, Biny Kurian and Carrie Irwin.

Working in partnership with physicians, nurse practitioners and other health professionals, the clinic’s goals include: providing ethical, high-quality care in the treatment and prevention of pain, injuries and other health concerns; providing effective reintegration to home, work and recreational activities following injuries or health problems; and helping patients work, play, perform and live more fully through better health and mobility.

The clinic is equipped with the latest treatment technology including fully electronic patient charting with digital imaging, advanced physiotherapy modalities and rehabilitation equipment, three-dimensional laser orthotics casting and much more.

The clinic also features a full gym with an array of rehab technology for physiotherapy.

Inside, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, decorated with beautiful panoramic photographs of the community.

The clinic is open week-days, with some early morning and evening slots available by appointment.

It is located in the Morton Community Healthcare Centre, 150 Strickland Street, Lakefield.
