GCH needs plan for Medical Centre
by Terry McQuitty
The Township of Galway-Cavendish and Harvey is revisiting the business model for the Buckhorn Regional Health Centre (BRHC).
CAO Pat Kemp asked council for direction as to how to proceed with the existing committee in regard to the present model.
The direction was to be taken to a meeting with the BRHC committee on February 19.
Four options were laid out for council:
1. Dissolve the BRHC committee;
2. Continue with the committee and allot an annual budget;
3. Have the medical centre raise their own funds for operational expenses;
4. Status quo. Council prepares the annual budget which leaves the committee with no real say.
Councillor Peter Franzen suggested that options two and three be combined, however the suggestion never made it to a motion. No other suggestions were brought forward.
Council agreed that staff should attend the February 19 meeting and discuss with the committee which option would appeal to them.
