Full house enjoyed Heffernan concert

Irish eyes were smiling on Lakefield this past Sunday. The Heffernan Family and Friends played to a full house at Lakefield United Church.

The Saint Patrick’s Day concert was hosted by A.O.T.S. Men’s Club with the proceeds being filtered back into the community with an emphasis on youth activities.

The Heffernans performed a number of classics including Danny Boy and When Irish Eyes are Smiling. The music was broken up with humorous stories about the family and jokes with an Irish flavour.

During intermission two special presentations took place. A.O.T.S. presented the Heffernans with an honourary membership to the club in recognition of the many years of superb music and entertainment during the club’s annual Community Carol Service and other fundraising activities.

An award was also presented to Dr. John Sherin who is retiring as A.O.T.S. Event Director. The Saint Patrick’s Day concert marks Sherin’s last official function in this capacity.
