Seniors celebrate St. Patrick’s Day

On Wednesday, March 10, the Jolly Seniors celebrated the “wearing of the green” at their monthly potluck luncheon.

Lakefield Ward Councillor Anita Locke (of the Township of Smith-Ennismore-Lakefield) and Lakefield Legion Branch member Ann Bulpit judged the “best dressed green”.

Best Dressed winners included (first place, woman) Betty Legge, (first place, man) Ted Rose, (runner up, woman) Janet Rose and (runner up, man) Don Rose.

Prizes included fudge from Kawartha Fudge, a shamrock scarf and a shamrock mug.

The delicious fudge was donated by Brad Katz of Kawartha Fudge in Lakefield.

Anita presented Tom Gilvear with a certificate signed by the Reeve of the township in recognition of his 80th birthday.

Three new members were welcomed: Don Rose, Bob Pratt and Theresa Flagler.

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 7. Potluck begins at 1:00 p.m. followed by the meeting at 2:00.
