New Apsley school opening March 22

Students and staff at Apsley Public School will start classes in their new school building the first day they return from March Break.

The staff and students of Apsley Central Public School have been located at a temporary site since September 2008, while their new school was being constructed.

While at the nine-portable site, staff and students have been very creative, positive and resourceful in working without permanent facilities such as a gym, kitchen and hallways.

The community has displayed great patience and support during this process. The wait has come to an end and on March 22, the staff, students and community will open the doors to a brand new school which includes a spacious gym, grand entrance, superior Kindergarten room and connecting daycare facility.

First Day at the New School schedule, March 22, 2010:

8:25 - 8:40 Students arrive at Portable village.

8:40 - 8:50 a.m. Assembly Part One – “Goodbye Portables”.

8:50 - 9:20 a.m. Parade to New School.

9:20 - 10:00 a.m. Assembly Part Two – “Hello New School”.

Students will then become familiar with their new surroundings. Various activities have been planned to celebrate this occasion.

Parents and community members are invited to be at the new school to clap the students in after their parade and to view the facilities.
