East Meets West at the Buckhorn Community Centre

The East Meets West music concert is a truly cultural event celebrating Cultural Day on September 25.

It will benefit the Buckhorn community as all ticket revenue will go to Buckhorn Sports Complex.

Ron Korb and Madam Xiao-qiu Lin will be among the professional performing artists for the evening.

Korb is a highly respected Canadian flutist. He has travelled around the globe for years collecting and studying indigenous flutes.

Reflecting Jazz, Chinese, Celtic and Latin influences, his music embodies the diverse cultures, traditions and experiences of his travels.

Korb has composed gold and double platinum selling albums for major Asian artists. He mesmerizes his audiences with dynamic performances of beautiful original music and interesting arrangements.

His work is accessible, but also introduces new sounds and instruments to delighted audiences. For more information about this artist please visit his website at www.ronkorb.com.

Madam Xiao Lin is a seasoned Erhu (Chinese violin) performing artist whose superb techniques and musicality have delighted audiences in China as well as in Canada.

Immediately upon receiving her Bachelor of Arts with an erhu major from Shanghai Conservatory of Music in 1988 she joined the Shanghai Folk Philharmonic Orchestra for the next 20 years as a Senior Erhu Professional.

The richness in Madam Lin’s stage performance is credited through extensive performing and touring with the orchestra within China and abroad and in concert as a soloist.

Her exquisite performing style earned her critical acclaim from the media. A solo album, Seeing Each Other was released in May of 2003.

Also performing in the concert are members from the Fan Shang-E Zheng Music School. This school is dedicated to the teaching and development of Zheng music (Chinese harp) in Canada, and Jessamin Fairfield.

Tickets are available for $25 each and include light refreshments during intermission. On the back of the ticket is a V.I.P. card for a 10 per cent discount for orders over $38 before HST when dining at the Cody Inn in Buckhorn from September 25 to November 29. The card can be used repeatedly during this period.

Tickets are available at the Buckhorn Community Centre, where the concert will be held, and at Cody Inn and Bayside Boutique and Gallery.

East Meets West is a charitable event with all ticket revenues going to the Buckhorn Sports Complex.
