Gourd show in Buckhorn
The Buckhorn Community Centre (BCC) continues to offer the best in events with the announcement of the first annual Gourd and Creative Art Show, to be held on September 17 and 18 this year.
Working in partnership with the Canadian Gourd Society, the BCC is proud to present this unique artform to visitors.
Ranging in styles from craft to fine art, gourd crafting and painting has been around for centuries. The variety of art pieces created include bowls, ornaments, sculpture, vases and wall art.
In addition to the gourd art, there are many other exhibitors offering creative arts, including card stamping, knitting and carving.
Rosie Binns, President of the Board of Directors of the BCC says, “We are always looking for new shows to add to our repertoire that bring something unique to the area. This event is an example of the good things that can happen when two organizations work together.”
Workshops are being offered during the show: Painting with Egg Tempera, Carve Your Own Canoe Paddle, Wicker and Willow Gourd Baby, Gourd and Hemp Necklace are a few of the courses being offered.
