Golden Years Club hears presentation on V.O.N.

by Ruth Salter

After enjoying another great potluck luncheon last Wednesday, served up as only our members can do, we listened to a very interesting guest speaker: Doreen Anderson-Roy from V.O.N.

She explained how the V.O.N. was started during Queen Victoria’s reign and was named for her.

Originally, there was just nursing care, but they since have added many community health and support services such as foot care, respite care, exercise programs, in-home care and group activities.

They work through the Access Centre and cover Peterborough, Victoria and Haliburton counties.

A short business meeting followed. Next “Book Club” date is February 10 at 10 a.m. As usual, any activity details are available from Barbara at 705-652-3148.

Euchre winners from last Thursday were 1st Pat Schiarizza, 2nd Ruth Crawford, 3rd Joan Rosborough.

Wednesday bridge winners were 1st Dorothy Nichols, 2nd Mary Garton, 3rd Chris Hobin.

Friday cribbage winners were 1st Dorothy Wingett, 2nd Jean Ireland, 3rd Betty Neely.
