Port Hope Friends of Music present Via Salzburg

On Sunday, February 12 Friends of Music welcomes Via Salzburg to the Cameco Capitol Arts Centre in Port Hope.

This chamber ensemble was created in 1999 by Artistic Director and violinist Mayumi Seiler, and the Port Hope programme will include three string sextets: Brahms number 1 in G Major; Dvorak A Major opus 48; and a commissioned work by Canadian Linda Catlin Smith.

The Globe and Mail says “the youthful group plays with such verve, commitment and understanding, it is impossible not to be fully engaged … they take pleasure in their play, and so do we”.

Friends of Music will host a pre-concert chat with Mayumi Seiler, free with admission to the concert, in the Sculthorpe Theatre at 2:15 p.m.

The Port Hope Friends of Music 37th season will continue with the Stars of Tomorrow (March 17), Sinfonia Toronto (March 25), pianist Ang Li (April 28) and Tafelmusik (June 1).

Via Salzburg tickets are $40 for adults, $37 Seniors, and $13 students, available at the Capitol, at the door or on the Friends of Music website. For subscription details, performer biographies and concert information visit www.PortHopeFriendsofMusic.ca.
