The Chiefs inching their way toward victory

Despite only playing one game last week in which the Lakefield Chiefs defeated the Little Britain Merchants 3-0 the local team inched within the 4 points of the first place Uxbridge Bruins.   The Bruins have lost their last three games starting with a 5-2 loss to Clarington, 3-1 to the Georgina Ice and Sunday 4-2 to the Port Perry MoJacks.

The Chiefs have five games remaining while Uxbridge has three, one of which is against Lakefield.

Lakefield travels to Georgina Friday and Port Perry Sunday and will host Port Perry at home on Tuesday, January 29.

In the 3-0 win against Little Britain Zac Wainman blocked 27 Merchant shots for the shutout and  was the Flannigan’s Butcher Shop Player of the game. 

Derek Manley had a goal and two assists as did Jordan Walsh. 

Matt Perras who had a solid game defensively scoring once and adding an assist. 

Eric Shewell also added an assist.

The Chiefs have announced that they will be holding a Valentines Dance at the Lakefield Legion on Friday, February 8 featuring Darlene and the Shamrocker along with Champagne Elvis. Tickets are $15 each or $25 a couple with a light lunch.
