Selwyn considers trailer park bylaw

by Simon Conolly

Selwyn council will consider a new bylaw governing trailer parks when it meets on January 29.

The new bylaw will replace separate bylaws now in effect in Ennismore and Smith Wards, and will substantially raise the licensing fees parks are required to pay.

Presently, the Smith bylaw requires an annual fee of $10; there is no annual fee in Ennismore.

The new bylaw sets the fee at $100 annually, plus $2 per site in 2013, rising to $3 per site in 2014.

Rob Lamarre, Manager of Building and Planning, says the new bylaw would be revenue neutral, with the fees covering the cost of annual inspections of the parks.

The bylaw will require each park to provide to the Township a plan, drawn to scale, showing all lots in the park.
