Tickets are going fast for Lakefield Hockey Reunion
by Jim Carson
The Lakefield Hockey Reunion committee has announced that tickets are now on sale for the event scheduled for July 20.
To date over 500 invitations have ben sent out through email and phone calls to past players, volunteers and fans with the reunion hoping to contact 200 to 300 more.
The capacity for the event has been limited to 600 so the committee is recommending those wishing to attend to purchase their tickets as soon as possible to celebrate over 50 years of hockey in Lakefield.
If you have not been contacted yet, you are asked to send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com. You can also call Murray Henderson at 705-745-7323 or Jim Carson at 705-652-1454.
This event includes a golf tournament being organized by Bob Hunt (705-652-8764) and the horseshoe tournament by Jim Wilford (705-652-7128).
The social evening includes slide shows, presentations and music from the ’40s to the present. The committee has had confirmation from former players from as far away as Vancouver and New Brunswick.
A date of Thursday, March 7 from 7 p.m. - 8 p.m. has been set for those who wish to drop off pictures or other memorabilia to be included in the slide show.
Each item is catalogued and will be returned to the owner. This is the second date for such items with the first one in December which was very successful.
SPONSORED BY WILFORD
Jim Wilford of Wilford Construction has agreed to assist the committee with sponsorship and according to reunion member Murray Henderson has played a huge part in organizing the event.
“This sponsorship has given us the opportunity to purchase several items and some advertising for the event and along with Jim sitting on the committee is greatly appreciated.”
Again it is stongly suggested that you purchase your tickets including the social evening early so you won’t be left out of this celebration.
This event is being organized by both the Lakefield Minor Hockey Association and the Lakefield Chiefs Jr. Hockey Club in a effort to raise much needed funds for hockey in the area.
It is an opportunity for everyone to give back to these organizations instead of them having to obtain further funds from present sponsors.
