Trent Lakes Council helps Pedal for Hope
by Christina Millington
Pedal for Hope, Cops for Cancer is bringing authority figures together not only for a cause, but for the children come May 3.
Dave McNabb of the OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) came before Trent Lakes council on Feb. 5 to discuss the opportunity to receive funds to purchase an iPod touch for various schools in the Township.
McNabb has been an active participant in Pedal for Hope over the years which has enabled him to keep up an active, healthy lifestyle with the benefits of raising cancer awareness with every stride.
McNabb asked council members for their continued support with the annual charity event asking for a donation of $225 to purchase an iPod to acknowledge student contributions as they promote cancer awareness.
CAO Pat Kemp presented to council their ability to list the charitable donation as a “miscellaneous grant,” which would allow them to successfully donate $225 to Pedal for Hope for their intended purchase.
McNabb expressed his utmost gratitude toward council and its generosity.
“Thank you once again for your support,” said McNabb.
