Career and information fair in Buckhorn March 27

The Municipality of Trent Lakes is partnering with the Community Social Plan to enhance the job fair that has been an annual event at the Buckhorn Community Centre for the past several years.

This year’s event is called the Career and Information Fair and it will be held on Wednesday, March 27 at the Buckhorn Community Centre.

Added this year is an information session which will highlight services that are available from both the county and the municipality.

For instance, the chartered accounting firm of McColl Turner will be attending to provide advice to small business owners and not-for-profit organizations.

Other organizations that will be in attendance include the YWCA, providing information regarding the food share initiative, and representatives from Fairhaven, a wonderful long-term care home jointly owned by the County and City of Peterborough, outlining the services they provide.

Along with these presenters, there will be representation from various municipal departments including the building and planning department, the fire department, the roads department, and the taxation department. MPAC (Municipal Property Assessment Corporation) has also been invited.

This event will have information that will benefit all residents of Trent Lakes. Consider it a one-stop shopping event.

Of course jobs will continue to be a major focus of the event, to meet the need to pair potential employees with quality employers.

One community business operator has expressed his satisfaction with the job fair noting that he is able to personally meet potential employees and have a conversation in a more relaxed and less formal atmosphere.

The job fair is a great way for job seekers and potential employers to connect and get to know one another. Efforts have been made to attract employers from a wide variety of businesses including the various trades.

The event will also provide an opportunity for business-to-business networking in which local businesses can connect with the many trades people working in the area.

Opportunities abound for businesses to learn of mutually desired services. Get to know the businesses that can help your own business to grow and thrive.
