Co-op student joins The Herald

Hello, my name is Vanessa Stark and I am currently a Grade 11 co-op student at Lakefield District Secondary School and was very lucky to land a placement with the Lakefield Herald to try my hand at journalism. I would like a career in media but have yet to decide what field.

I enjoy photography and writing as well as hanging with friends, looking after my animals and working on my farm. My favourite subjects in school are History and English.

I have attended the Kiwanis Key Leaders program in Arden this past year as well as a leadership conference at Fleming College. I have also had the privilege of being a part of the Teens and Cops Tackling Internet Crime (TACTIC) project run by the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board and Fleming College. This program gave me a college credit transferable to any college in the province.

I am very grateful for this opportunity and hope to gain all the experience and guidance I can from my placement.
