Community Museum makes plans for 2013
The Christ Church Community Museum committee is planning the 2013 season. They are excited about this new season and will have some new items on display in the museum.
The summer services and a concert are being scheduled for July and August. Watch for the 9.00 a.m. service of Holy Communion on Sunday, July 21 during the Lakefield Literary Festival.
Garnet and Barb Graham have discovered a very interesting find. It is a page from Catharine Parr Traill’s notes written at the time she was preparing to write the book The Backwoods of Canada, which was first published in 1836.
The page is quite well preserved and easy to read on one side; however notes were made on the back of this page as well, first written in one direction and then to preserve paper she wrote at right angles.
This is more difficult to decipher. It will be on display this summer season.
A lunch and fashion show is planned for Saturday, April 27 at 12.00 noon in St. John’s parish hall on Regent Street.
Tragically Hipp is putting on the fashion show. Evelyn, the owner is a very innovative business woman, and has had a lively business in Lakefield for several years.
She moved to the larger facilities beside our church museum and has become well known in the larger community.
There will be six models, all ages and sizes, lined up. Evelyn will also do a makeover. This will be fun and at the same time be a fundraiser for CCCM.
Before the fashion show lunch will be served. The menu is salmon quiche, a fruity, nutty specialty lettuce salad with a raspberry vinaigrette dressing. An irresistible pineapple surprise cake will be served for dessert.
