Buckhorn winery wins gold

Kawartha Country Wines has taken a Gold Medal in the All Canadian Wine Championships for their Elderberry Dessert Wine.

The All Canadian Wine Championships are Canada’s oldest and largest wine competition, with entries from across the country including the Niagaras, British Columbia and Prince Edward County.

Prices for award winning bottles range up to $90, but vintner John Rufa only charges $15 for his gold medal winner.

“I’m so gratified to be recognized with another award. There are some incredible winemakers in this country and to be placed on par with them is truly an honour.”

Kawartha Country Wines is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. including holiday Mondays. They offer a full complimentary tasting bar at their Buckhorn location.
