Rock the Locks in Buckhorn August 24
The East Kawartha Chamber of Commerce, Buckhorn Community Centre, Buckhorn District Tourist Association and Greater Harvey Historical Society have partnered to present Rock The Locks, an event commemorating the 126th anniversary of the operation of the Buckhorn, Burleigh Falls and Lovesick Locks.
On Saturday, August 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., enjoy live entertainment and a chance to explore Lock 31 and the beautiful town of Buckhorn.
Join us as we celebrate and learn more about the history of the Buckhorn, Burleigh Falls and Lovesick Locks and the communities that surround them.
The event will feature special interest exhibits presented by community organizations including: Canadian Antique Fishing Tackle Association, Trent Severn Waterway Antique and Classic Boat Association, The East Kawartha Chamber of Commerce, Buckhorn Community Centre, Greater Harvey Historical Society, Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters Invasive Species Awareness Program, Emily Provincial Park, Kawartha ATV Association, OPP Marine Unit and Kawartha Lakes Stewards Association.
Additionally, vendors will be set up along the street, face-painting as well as a balloon artist.
Commemorate the history of Lock 31 with a free pontoon boat ride, sponsored by Oak Bay Resort.
Afterwards, stick around for the Rock your Socks dance, starting at 7 p.m. at the Buckhorn Community Centre, featuring the Coup de Ville band. Come as you are or dress for the fifties.
