Mackenzie Hughes was Player of the Week at Wildfire
Mackenzie Hughes of Dundas, Ont., was recognized for the second time as the Freedom 55 Financial Canadian Player of the Week, as PGA TOUR Canada’s Great Waterway Classic ended here Sunday.
“As a Canadian organization, we’re pleased to recognize leading Canadian golfers throughout the tour for their outstanding achievements and dedication to achieving their goals,” said Mike Murphy, Durham-Peterborough Financial Centre, Freedom 55 Financial.
Freedom 55 Financial established the Canadian Player of the Week award to recognize top Canadian players on PGA TOUR Canada.
At each PGA TOUR Canada tournament, Freedom 55 Financial will present this award to the player who has the lowest total score. Winners also receive $1,500 to use toward attaining future goals.
At the end of the TOUR Championship of Canada the Freedom 55 Financial Canadian Player of Year award will be presented to the top Canadian player on the PGA TOUR Canada Order of Merit along with a $10,000 cash prize.
In April, PGA TOUR Canada confirmed Freedom 55 Financial as the presenting sponsor of the TOUR Championship of Canada. The TOUR Championship, PGA TOUR Canada’s flagship event, will be conducted by Golf Canada.
The tournament will see the culmination of the race for five Web.com Tour cards to be earned by the top five players on the Order of Merit Sept. 9-15 at Sunningdale Golf and Country Club in London, Ont.
