Penny Little art show at Douro-Dummer Library Gallery
The Douro-Dummer Library Board is proud to present the very talented artist Penny Little’s display of art in its rejuvenated art gallery.
The show runs October 22 - December 20, with the opening of show and sale on Friday, Oct. 25, 7 – 8 p.m.
Come to the library and enjoy Penny’s display of a wide variety of art where you will feel the joy she experiences in producing each piece, as she expresses nature in watercolour, sketches and oil paint.
There, you will have an opportunity to purchase a piece of local art from Penny’s collection.
Penny was born and raised in Shawinigan, Quebec, in the beautiful St. Maurice Valley.
Her love of nature and outdoor sports gave her an early appreciation of the beauty of her surroundings.
Every summer she and her family would return to Stoney Lake, “the land of shining waters”. Her family had cottaged there since the mid 1800s. She now lives full time on Gilchrist Bay in a home which she designed and decorated.
A relative newcomer to the artistic world, Penny says, “I’ve always had the idea that I might enjoy painting,” and now she is retired, takes lessons and workshops and paints regularly with the Buckhorn Artist Group.
Her work is very varied and sales are international. She has shown her work at the Buckhorn Shows, The Juniper Island Art Festival, the Fenelon Art Festival, Cobourg Waterfront Festival and the Lakefield Jazz and Art Festival.
Penny paints primarily out of her home and offers greeting cards, original paintings, sketches and personalized paddles for sale.
“Stoney Lake, the calming atmosphere, and changing moods, nature and wildlife, the antics of the grandchildren and encouragement of family and friends are my inspiration. I hope my work reflects the joy I feel in producing it.”
We invite you all to join us for an evening of art and a social time together.
