New role for Del Mastro
Dean Del Mastro, Member of Parliament for Peterborough is pleased to accept his new role in Parliament.
Effective immediately, Del Mastro takes on the position of Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of the Canadian Northern Eco-nomic Development Agency, for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, and for the Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario.
“Our Government has made it no secret that jobs and the economy are our number one priority,” stated Del Mastro. “This role will allow me to work directly with job creators and companies throughout Ontario and across the Arctic to build a stronger economy to the benefit of all Canadians.”
The Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency (CanNor) was established in 2009 and works to help develop a diversified, sustainable, and dynamic economy across Canada’s three territories, while at the same time contributing to Canada’s prosperity.
The Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev) was established in August 2009 to help the southern Ontario economy mitigate and overcome regional and global economic challenges.
As Canada’s most populous region – home to 12.3 million residents living in 288 communities – southern Ontario is a key contributor to the overall Canadian economy.
FedDev Ontario acts as a convener, advocate and investor to support the development of a prosperous and globally competitive southern Ontario economy by supporting innovation and commercialization, business growth, productivity and communities.
“I look forward to visiting communities throughout Ontario and across the Arctic to consult on, as well as to deliver, federal support to build an even stronger Canadian economy in the future,” stated Del Mastro.
Del Mastro was formerly Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister.
