New owner for Savage Arms

Savage Arms has been purchased by ATK, or Alliant Techsystems Inc.
They announced in June that their acquisition of Caliber Company was completed, which is the parent company of Savage Sports Corporation.
Savage has three brand names, Savage Arms, which is the name of the Lakefield location, and also Stevens and Savage Range Systems. They are one of the world’s largest manufacturers of hunting rifles and shotguns, delivering products for more than 100 years.
There are approximately 600 skilled employees of Savage who design, manufacture and market rifles, shotguns and shooting range systems, which are purchased for hunting and target shooting.
Arthur Savage originally created the company in 1894, and it has grown substantially, now in a market-leading position. There are also locations in Westfield, Massachusetts.
“Savage has been delivering customers high-quality firearms for more than 100 years,” said Al Kasper, Savage President and Chief Operating Officer. “We’re proud to continue that legacy under the ATK Sporting Group umbrella, and we know Savage’s products will be a natural complement to ATK’s existing hunting and shooting sports ammunition and accessories business.”
Headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, ATK is an aerospace, defense, and commercial products company with about 14,000 employees. They are the leader in sporting and law enforcement ammunition and operate internationally.
Terry McCullough, who is the Vice President and General Manager of Savage Arms, in Lakefield, says it’s great for their company. “We’re really excited, it puts Savage Arms in a really good position.”
