October 20 Games Show planned for Buckhorn Riding Academy
by Tamara Crawford
Buckhorn Riding Academy (BRA) in Selwyn will be hosting a fun Games Show for all their students and boarders on October 20.
The Rogstad family (Gunnar, Kim, Casey and Quinn) have owned and operated BRA since June of 2011.
The Rogstads’ have always had horses in their life one way or another. Kim and Gunnar have bred Norwegian Fjord Horses in and around Sutton, Ontario, for a number of years, before settling down in Selwyn.
The Rogstads have two teenage girls, Quinn Rogstad, who is a Grade 12 student at Lakefield District Secondary School and an instructor at BRA, and Casey Rogstad, who is attending Meredith Manor Equestrian College in West Virginia and is also an instructor.
“The show will have a number of games from barrel racing to flag race for the students and our boarders to enjoy,” says Quinn Rogstad. The Games Show is just a fun show for BRA itself, but spectators are welcome on Sunday to observe what goes on at a horseshow.
“I think most of our students are ready and would enjoy the option to be a part of our show,” says Rogstad, who teaches her students on Saturdays.
BRA operates seven days a week, from morning to early evening, and has a great range of horses to take lessons on.
The Rogstads are always welcoming new students and boarders to become a part of the BRA team.
BRA will be hosting some fun shows throughout the rest of the year, and encourages people in the surrounding areas to come out and enjoy the fun of horses.
