BEL Rotary awarded Presidential Citation
by Susan Davidson
At the December 2 meeting, ADG Lynne Chant presented the BEL Rotary Club with the Presidential Citation 2012-2013, for outstanding service to the local and global communities and for upholding the ideals of Rotary.
The Presidential Citation recognizes Rotary clubs for achieving an array of accomplishments that help them become stronger, deliver more effective service and enhance their public image.
By qualifying for the Presidential Citation, clubs contribute to Rotary’s organizational goals and multiply the impact of their good work through the collective focus of 34,000 Rotary Clubs worldwide.
The BEL Club was congratulated for meeting these goals. During the 2012-2013 year, the club was visible in the community in its continued development and maintenance of Rotary Park, its stewardship of the Bridgenorth Rotary Trail and partnership with the schools through citizenship awards and project helping hands – the provision of instructional material to primary aged children.
The club was engaged with youth through the sponsorship of students to the Rotary Leadership Weekend, Adventures in Citizenship program, support of Lakefield Youth Unlimited and involvement in the international Youth Exchange Program.
On the International scene the BEL Club continued to support the eradication of Polio worldwide and worked with other local clubs to provide books and computers to schools in Haiti.
The BEL Club is proud of its accomplishments. The success is no accident: it depends on the strength, dedication and commitment of every member as well as the support of their many community partners.
One of those partners is Terry McQuitty of the Lakefield Herald. McQuitty works with the club to promote service work and projects and ensure that the accomplishments are recognized in the community.
Susan Davidson, Public Relations director presented McQuitty with a plaque in recognition of his tremendous support.
