LDSS Art Students’ Show at the Douro-Dummer library
Students studying a variety of visual art forms, crafts and photography, under the tutelage of Debra O’Grady, will display their works in the Douro-Dummer library’s rejuvenated art gallery from December 15 to January 31.
We are looking forward to another show of unique art pieces from these talented students. Be sure to drop in to the library and check out this display.
A celebration of their show will take place on January 11 from 11:00 - 12:00.
Patrick Fitzgerald, a Canadian figurative artist, will show his works during February and March. He grew up in Douro and was educated in Toronto, Seattle and New York City.
Patrick says, “My paintings focus on abstract compositions in realistic contexts. I’m drawn to an earth-toned palette, paint from life, and am equally influenced by my naturalistic rural upbringing, and more modern urban experiences. Subjects include landscapes, portraits and still-life oil paintings, watercolours and pencil sketches.”
A warm thank you to Penny Little for displaying her unique art in the DDPL art gallery. We extend a huge thank you to all our previous artists – Bernard Leahy, the art students of Lakefield District Secondary School and their teacher, Debra O’Grady, Norma Payne, Anne Martin-Jones, Robert Doherty and Helen Sheppard for displaying their inspirational works in the gallery.
The Art Gallery Committee would greatly appreciate your suggestions for future shows and openings.
