Chiefs add two players
The Lakefield Fitzsimmons Towing and Repair Chiefs have done what they believe will strengthen the club going forward in search of the Schmalz Cup by picking up a defensemen and power forward.
On January 9 the Chiefs obtained the rights of Georgina Ice hard nose 18-year-old Defensemen Brett Thompson. Thompson played all his minor hockey in Stouffeville before playing this year with the Ice.
In 25 games with the Ice, Thompson had one goal and nine assists along with 47 minutes in penalties.
Then the Chiefs picked up high flying local winger Bryce Sweeting from the Lindsay Muskies.
Sweeting played his minor hockey in the Petes AAA system and will join an already large number of players who also come from the minor Petes system.
He will fit in well with his type of play with the Chiefs, who a believe he will contribute immediately, said Director of Hockey Operations Jim Carson.
In 84 games over three years with the Muskies Sweeting had eight goals, 13 assists along with 230 minutes in penalties.
