Conservation award for Buckeye Marine

Buckeye Marine, an internationally award-winning boat dealership located in the heart of Bobcaygeon, is the recipient of Kawartha Conservation’s Business Award, as part of its 2014 Environmental Recognition Awards presented at its AGM on Jan. 22.

The family-owned boat dealership has been in operation for more than six decades, primarily selling bow riders, deckboats, cruisers, and towboats.

Buckeye Marine was recognized for its contribution and commitment to watershed health. In 2013, the company supported the purchase of a boat and motor that is now being used for lake management planning and environmental monitoring activities on lakes across the Kawarthas.

What sets Buckeye Marine apart is its long-term commitment to the health of the lakes. Driven by an understanding that, “If the community is healthy, its business will be healthy,” Buckeye Marine has a long-term commitment “to have healthy lakes for everyone to enjoy.”

“Not only do we understand that the health of the waterways is key to the tourism industry, it is also important to us as residents and users of the beautiful lakes and rivers that surround us,” says Debbie Poole, President and General Manager of the company.

Buckeye Marine, founded on the natural beauty and bounty of the lakes, is also a socially responsible business that supports the community. It provides employment through offering goods and services to local consumers and visitors, making a significant economic contribution to the area.
