CCCM fundraiser marks World War I anniversary

Christ Church Community Museum Committee has just had its first committee meeting of 2014.

Plans are being made for a new roof on the main part of the historic 1853 stone church.

The metal shingles will match the roof that was put on the new vestry on the north side just completed in October. Squirrels won’t be able to chew through these shingles!

To help fund this project the committee is planning a fundraiser Sunday, April 27, the last Sunday in April, at St. John’s Parish hall. This event will commemorate the 100th anniversary of World War I.

Sandy McCracken, whose grandfather was in WW I, visited various sites in Europe and has many interesting pictures and stories of that trip.

Sandy is a well-known Lakefield woman and knows how to tell a great story and keep the audience on the edge of their seats.

Sandy’s presentation will be at 4.00 p.m. with dinner following at 5.30 p.m.

If you have memorabilia of WW I you may wish to bring it that evening. You’ll be given an opportunity to display it for the evening and tell of its significance.

Some of CCCM’s volunteer best cooks are now planning this meal. Watch this paper for details. The limited tickets will be available soon.
