Lakefield Farmers Market prepares for its fifth season

With only a few more weeks until the robins come out, a new crop of maple syrup and melting snow to herald the arrival of spring, the Lakefield Farmers Market board is preparing for another season.

This year marks the 5th season the Lakefield Farmers Market will offer the best in locally grown food, prepared meals and artistic delights to the public.

“The support of local consumers, and the many visitors to our area, has enabled the market to thrive,” said Bernard Leahy.

Market hours for 2014 will be Thursdays, 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., May 22 through October 9, which is a slight change in daily time.

“The July 3 market will be a 5th Anniversary celebration,” said Leahy.

“Plans are under way to make this an entertaining and educational event. It will be a great time to celebrate our nation and our market.”

A warm welcome is extended to the many returning vendors whose dedication to offering quality products with one to one service has been a hit with shoppers. Returning vendor applications are due by March 7.

New vendors are also encouraged to apply with completed applications due by April 30.

Applications and a vendors handbook are available at or by contacting Market Manager Jay Adam at 705-743-7671.

“Spring is around the corner,” said Leahy.

“Let’s plan for warm temperatures, sunny days and the start of market season.”
