Curve Lake man charged

A public intoxication arrest has led to further charges for a Curve Lake man who was arrested in the early morning of Feb. 27.

The accused is currently bound by a probation order with a condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

On Feb. 27 at approximately 2 a.m. the accused was arrested for public intoxication. During transport, the accused caused self inflicted injuries to himself.

An ambulance was dispatched to treat the accused and he was subsequently transported to Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC)by ambulance for further treatment of his injuries.

When the ambulance arrived at PRHC, the accused became aggressive and began throwing items around in the ambulance bay.

The accused grabbed a fire extinguisher and smashed the window of an ambulance.

The accused then entered the emergency department and began to activate the fire extinguisher at security officers attending the disturbance.

When the extinguisher was empty, the accused threw the extinguisher at a PRHC staff member. Security officers were able to restrain the accused at which point police arrived and arrested him.

As a result of the investigation, Wendall William McCue, 44, of Curve Lake was arrested and charged with three counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of mischief under $5,000 and breach of probation.

He was held in custody and will appear in court the same day.
