Donwood Community Centre is no more

Crews were at the former Donwood Community Centre last Wednesday to tear it down, months after the facility was closed by the Township of Douro-Dummer.

Located just east of Peterborough on County Rd. 4, the building, used for weddings, community events and social gatherings, officially closed last summer after a serious mould issue was discovered.

The future of the site of the former Donwood Community Centre hasnít yet been determined.

The Township of Douro-Dummer, which owns the property, held a public meeting to gather input, where it was determined that the cost to make the building safe far exceeded its value, making demolition the only alternative.

Township staff are currently looking at options for the propertyís future, stated Brian Millett, manager of Recreation Facilities for Douro-Dummer.
