Douro-Dummer seeks nominations for 16th annual Civic Awards

The Township of Douro-Dummer has announced it will be hosting the 16th Annual Civic Awards Night on Thursday, May 15 at 7:00 p.m. at the Douro Community Centre.

“This has been a successful and important community event for the past fifteen years,” said Douro-Dummer acting Deputy Clerk Martina Chait in a press release.

“Council invites you to help us identify special individuals within our community, so that they may be recognized. After this year, this event will be changing slightly so that it is held every two years. The next Civic Awards night will occur in 2016, so do not miss your opportunity to recognize our wonderful citizens.”

Up to four Civic Awards are given out annually. Nominees must be a resident of the Municipality past or present to be eligible for the award, residents will have made a significant contribution to the community through volunteering their time and service.

Up to two Posthumous Awards will also be awarded for posthumous residents of the Municipality who during their lifetime contributed to the fabric of the Township that is enjoyed today.

“If your organization knows of anyone who fits the criteria, we would love to hear from you,” said Chait.

“A summary of the nominee’s services and involvement within the community must accompany your submission. This information is used to choose those who are awarded and the information will also be part of the historical record of the Township.”

Those interested in nominating an individual are required to return their nomination form by April 7.
