Chiefs even series 2-2

The Lakefield Fitzsimmons Towing and Repair Chiefs tied up the best of seven series 2-2 with the Picton Pirates in a convincing fashion defeating the Pirates 5-1 before a large home crowd Tuesday evening.
Leading the way for the Chiefs was Bryce Sweeting with two goals and an assist. Derek Manley, Travis Brault and Devon Gilbert had the other goals.
Assists went to Manley, Brault, Shawn Mackie, Nathan Larson, William Sullivan, Eric Shewell, Connor Blair and Jordan Walsh.
Zac Wainman played well in net for the victory. The Chiefs travel to Picton on Thursday for a 7:30 tilt in game five of the series, and will be back in Lakefield Saturday for game six.
The Picton Pirates top line of Brian Bunnett, Ryan Sizer and Jack Davidson each had one goal and two assists on the first three goals for the Picton Pirates, who went on to defeat the Lakefield Fitzsimmons Towing and Repair Chiefs 4-0 before over 250 fans at the Picton Arena Thursday, March 20, giving them the first game in the best of seven quarter final series of the Schmalz Cup.
The Chiefs had some good scoring opportunities but were turned away each time by Picton goalie Adam Wood.
In a losing effort Zac Wainman had a good game in net keeping the Chiefs within striking distance until early in the third when Picton picked up their fourth goal by Garrett Nichol.
The Chiefs rebounded in game two on Saturday, March 22, beating the Picton Pirates at home 6-1, tying up the quarter final Schmalz Cup Series 1-1.
The Chiefs dominated all facets of the game. They had contributions from all lines with six different goal scorers in Ryan Saunders, William Sullivan, Devin Gilbert, Sean Mackie, Jessie Gregory and Nathan Larson.
Picking up assists were Ryan Anderson with two, Sullivan, Gilbert, Mackie, Connor Blair, Bryce Sweeting, Travis Brault and Derek Manley.
Wil Healey scored for the Pirates with Ryan Sizer picking up an assist.
Game 3 of the Schmalz Cup Quarter Final was nothing like the first two games of the Series.
The Chiefs lost a hard fought 2-1 decision to the Picton Pirates in Sunday.
The Pirates struck first just past the 12 minute mark of the first period with Brian Bunnett scoring from Jack Davidson and Brandon Peever.
Just before the 10 minute mark of the second the Pirates scored their second goal on the power play with Ryan Sizer beating Zac Wainman with assists going to Bunnett and Davidson.
Both teams took a number of penalties with each having five-on-three opportunities, with neither team capitalizing on their opportunities.
Finally, the Chiefs were able to beat Adam Wood for the first time in the series at home at 7:50 of the third, with Jessie Gregory scoring from Bryce Sweeting and Jordan Walsh. Wood picked up the win in net and Wainman suffered the loss.
