Ennismore Juveniles are All-Ontario Champions
by Robert Campbell
It took the full six games of hockey to determine the OMHA Juvenile Championship, but after being down five points to three going into the weekend the Ennismore Robert Young Construction Juvenile Eagles came out on top.
To stave off elimination they won in dramatic fashion on Saturday 3-2 to force a final game sixin Glanbrook against the Rangers on Sunday.
Pat Young, Cole Murduff and Josh Gauthier had the Saturday goals.
On Sunday, before a packed house with a number of Ennismore supporters making the 2˝ hour trip to Glanbrook, the Eagles struck first on a goal by Pat Young.
The Rangers tied it up on a power play at the beginning of the second and the score stayed that way until late in the third when Riley Campbell scored making it 2-1.
Minutes later Cole Murduff scored then Robbie Wallbridge capped it off with an empty net goal to seal the championship. Brandon Timperio played a solid game in net for the Eagles.
It was not the easiest win of coach Matt Bell’s 10 Championships, but he stated there were a lot of kids on this team who made sacrifices for us to be Champions.
“They showed true character and determination to a man. We are very proud of what each and everyone of what these boys brought to the table.”
The Eagles would like to thank Carl Young and his family for all the support they give to the Juveniles each and every year.
