PAL’s final 2013 presentation: ‘Africville Stories’, April 13
Performing Arts Lakefield is presenting the last concert of this year’s series on Sunday, April 13, 7:30 p.m. in the Bryan Jones Theatre, Lakefield College School – Africville Stories with Joe Sealy, Paul Novotny and Jackie Richardson.
Joe Sealy is best known as a member of Blood, Sweat and Tears and has enjoyed a very successful international career as a musician, composer, recording artist and radio broadcaster.
The exceptional artists Jackie Richardson and Paul Novotny join Joe Sealy in presenting ‘Africville’.
‘Africville’ is powerful music that pays tribute to one of the most misunderstood and forgotten cultures in the Maritimes – the citizens of Africville, Nova Scotia.
This community and its dwellings were ordered destroyed and its residents evicted in the late 1960s – a symbol of Canadian African identity and the struggle against racism.
Paul Novotny produced Joe Sealy’s Juno Award winning album ‘Africville Suite’.
Come and enjoy this amazing musical tribute to a part of Canadian history that has been forgotten or maybe not known by many of us.
Cost: Series ticket or Adults $30.00 and students $10.00. Rush seats available at the door or on line at www.PerformingArtsLakefield.org.
