Stony Lake pictures featured at SPARK
The second annual SPARK Photo Festival kicks off its Showcase Exhibit of the Fairbairn Mackenzie Collection at the Historic “Y” Building, Murray & George Sts., Peterborough on Tuesday, April 1, 5 to 8 p.m.
This stunning collection of glass plates was recently “re-discovered” after sitting in an attic on Juniper Island and given to the Trent Valley Archives.
SPARK scanned all the images, printed and framed approximately 70 images for the Showcase Exhibit of heritage photos. Due to the generosity of HP, several images were printed at size formerly not possible.
Also on exhibit will be the selections for the juried exhibit. The winners will be announced at a second opening on April 10, 7 to 9 p.m. with all the photographers in attendance.
Catering provided by Chef Rose and the hospitality and tourism students of St. Peters Secondary School.
VIPs will include Elwood Jones, members of the Mackenzie family (descendants of the Fairbairn family), the Mayor, the SPARK board of directors, and many sponsors.
