Wetlands, marshes on the agenda for Lakefield Horticultural Society
The Lakefield Horticultural Society is pleased to announce the speaker for the next meeting.
Doug Kennedy from Green Side Up Environmental will speak about Wetlands and Marshes on Tuesday, May 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the Marshland Centre in Lakefield. Free admission.
Doug Kennedy is an Environmental Technologist and owner of Green Side Up Environmental Services. A graduate of Sir Sandford Fleming College, he has worked since 1996 in the horticultural and environmental industry.
Since this time he has not looked back and continues to learn and push forward as a pioneer in the green industry.
In addition to founding GSU, Doug is also active in the community. He has served on the City of Kawartha Lakes Environmental Advisory Committee and presently is an instructor and course developer at Sir Sandford Fleming College.
This evening he’ll speak about the importance of marshes and wetlands, their function and also about restoration projects. With Lakefield being so closely associated with a beautiful and valuable marsh this should turn out to be very relevant for our guests.
The Decorative Shows (two) are: “Grandmother’s Tea” – a design in a tea cup; and “Just bring ‘One’” – For first time exhibitors only. Bring your best flower!
Also the first “mini” flower show of the year. Tulips, daffodils, Primula, Hyacinths….
Lakefield Horticultural Society meetings are held monthly at the Marshland Centre, which is on Hague Point in the Village of Lakefield.
