Ennismore Waterfront Park Beach Reopened

The Ennismore Waterfront Park Beach was closed last week due to reports of dead fish and an unidentified yellow-coloured algae bloom/pollen in the beach area at the Ennismore Waterfront Park.

Please be advised that the Ennismore Waterfront Park Beach has been re-opened effective Monday, June 16.

After further review of the Ennismore Waterfront Park beach area the Peterborough County-City Health Unit has advised that the beach can be re-opened. It has been determined that yellow-coloured material observed along the beach is pollen and not a form of algae. The pollen is not related to the presence of the dead fish at the beach.

Accordingly, there is no cause for concern related to public health and the beach, along with all other areas of the park, is now open for the publicís enjoyment.

The Health Unit will continue to sample the water quality from this beach for E.coli on a regular basis throughout the summer. Results are posted on www.pcchu.ca.
