Recycle right and you could win

Peterborough County and City’s Gold Star recycling program is continuing throughout the summer. Excellent recyclers will receive a blue box sticker announcing their Gold Star status. So far 155 Gold Star Recyclers have been recognized.

Gold Star Recyclers must call or email to be entered into a grand prize draw at the end of summer. Prizes include:

• Pungo 120 Kayak and Sea Harmony Paddle (Wild Rock Outfitters)

• Brunch for 4 at Elmhirst Resort

• 2015 Family Season pass to Lang Pioneer Village Museum

• 4 Peterborough Pete’s tickets (BFI Waste Solutions)

A Gold Star Recycler uses two properly sorted blue boxes; one for containers and one for papers. Containers are: glass bottles and jars, plastic food and drink containers, pop cans and food tins. Papers are newspaper, office paper, cardboard and boxboard. Items such as grocery bags and bread bags should be bagged together and placed in the papers blue box. This keeps the bags clean making them easier to recycle. Blue boxes should contain no household hazardous waste, no garbage, and no electronics of any kind.

Remember Gold Star Recyclers must call or email to enter the contest, if calling after hours please leave a voice mail including your address and contact number.
