Lakefield Sidewalk Sale set to go on August 9

The 9th Annual Lakefield Sidewalk sale will kick off at 9 a.m. on Saturday, August 8.

Running until 3 p.m., the sale gives local merchants a chance to show the public what they have to offer. The Lakefield Herald founded the event back in 2005, partnering with the Chamber of Commerce and Lakefield Youth Unlimited.

Approximately 20 businesses are participating, most from the downtown, but others are coming from just outside the area to set up a booth.

Several not for profit organizations are also setting up booths, the Lakefield and District Lions Club, Lakefield Animal Welfare Society, Lakefield Legion, BEL Rotary Club, Habitat for Humanity and Lakefield Trail will all be there to showcase to the community the work they do.

Youth Unlimited is sponsoring the kidís play area at Cenotaph Park which will include bouncy castles, face painting and much more.

The organizing committee is also happy to announce that there will be live entertainment. A sound system will be set up and anyone wishing to play an instrument, sing, dance or just entertain will be welcome.

Free Wi-Fi will be available on Queen Street for the day, compliments of Letís Get Digital. Queen Street will be closed between Bridge Street and Reid for the annual event.
