Ontario Summer Games

by Brian Bethune

The skies were blue, the temperature was hot and colors were brilliant as athletes from across the province proudly wore their uniforms to compete in the Ontario Summer Games in Windsor (OSGwindsor.com) on the weekend August 7-10.

Opening ceremonies presented 2100 athletes to a full stadium on Thursday evening. The procession of athletes from Ladies U19 Field Lacrosse, Triathlon, and Archery to Baseball and Softball waived proudly as their sports were acknowledged by the thousands in attendance.

Local Lakefield Athletes Sage Darling, Meg Bethune and Addie Bethune participated on the Kawartha Lacrosse U19 ladies Field team.

Jessica Watson competed in Archery and placed third.

Drew Goble, Daniel (Westy) Westbroek and Erika Rankin participated in the Triathlon. Rankin won silver in her race.
